Blue Scale
Designed especially for launch at the London Design Festival, the Blue scale special edition explores a tonal gradient working down from 1% inclusion of cobalt oxide in the glaze. Cobalt blue is one of the most famous and used decorative materials in the history of ceramics and it is also one of the most powerful colouring oxides. 1% gives the deep blue and then micro percentages are needed to create the lighter colours. Perhaps symbolically, this piece demonstrates how little of something is needed to make a noticeable change.
As well as the large scale installation of mugs, we have a limited number of sets of 6 mugs in the gradient blue scale available to buy. We can also work to comission for the large installation pieces.

The Everyday Range is hand thrown in Emma’s studio using a fine stoneware clay and is finished with beautiful, tactile satin matt glazes. Each piece is dented while the clay is still soft giving a sensual aesthetic and a form that is ergonomic to use. The wide handle of the large mug is particularly popular as you can get a good hug around a warm drink.
The Everyday Mug is the largest size mug of the Everyday Range, each mug is 9cm tall by 9cm diameter with 400ml capacity approximately. As they are made by hand and due to the organic nature of materials, shape and colour might vary slightly.
